About Sef & Tiggy

Fluffy Facts is a series of short cartoon videos about space. Each one answers a single question in under 30 seconds, with a dog and a cat as your guides.

Sef, a golden retriever in a white space suit with an orange stripe, waving and holding a tennis ball

Sef

Golden retriever · enthusiastic, goofy, kind

Sef thinks everything in space is easy. He asks the question that seems logical, like “The Sun pulls everything in, so flying there must be easy, right?” and he always wants to go and see for himself.

Tiggy, a black-and-white tuxedo cat in a white space suit with a teal stripe, pointing while she explains

Tiggy

Tuxedo cat · clever, dry, a little smug

Tiggy knows it isn’t that simple. She explains what really happens and why the obvious answer is wrong, usually with her arms folded.

Meet the real Sef & Tiggy

The cartoon heroes are based on two real animals who share a home.

The real Sef: a golden retriever lying in the grass with his orange ball, tongue out

Sef

Golden retriever · born 13 January 2025

Sef comes from a pedigree litter. His name is really “Sev”, after Severus Snape from Harry Potter. Nothing makes him happier than playing with his orange ball, and he is incredibly social: every person he meets is a new best friend.

The real Tiggy: a white cat with tabby patches and green eyes, sitting on a wooden beam

Tiggy

Rescue cat · born around April 2013

Her real name is Tijgertje, Dutch for “little tiger”, but everyone calls her Tiggy. She came from an animal shelter, and her birthday is probably 14 April. Tiggy spends whole days doing absolutely nothing. She is terribly lazy, and terribly affectionate.

How we check the facts

  • Every Short starts with research. We check the central fact against at least two reliable sources: space agencies like NASA and ESA, universities, museums, scientific organisations and original research.
  • We cross-check numbers and explanations, we don’t invent facts, numbers or quotes, and we keep uncertainty where it matters.
  • The sources are listed on every Short’s page here and in each YouTube description, so you can check them yourself.
  • Spotted a mistake? Email [email protected]. We’ll look into it and correct it.

How the Shorts are made

The Shorts are animated in a classic cartoon style. Sef’s and Tiggy’s voices are computer-generated. Every Short is reviewed before it goes online.

Where to watch

New Shorts appear on YouTube (@fluffy-facts), Instagram (@fluffyfacts_) and our Facebook Page. All of them are also here on the website, with a transcript and sources.
